#24in48: My Reading Stack

I gearing up for another fabulous weekend of fabulous reading with the upcoming #24in48, and have worked to narrow down my list of books to consider over the course of the two days. While I certainly won't get to all of these, I want to make sure to be giving myself options for different moods, activities, weather, etc.

My kiddo shall be home, so I doubt I'll have a ton of reading time. But OMG you have some great books on your list: The Sparrow, The Martian. Not to mention some books HIGH on my own wishlist (Parnassus on Wheels, Stoner). And I really need to get off my...butt...and read Kavalier and Clay.
ReplyDeleteOoh you have such a good stack! Parnassus on Wheels seems like a good one for the 'thon - a short, enjoyable read. Stoner too for the same reasons. And Quiet - how perfect if you're feeling contemplative. ReplyDeleteI'll be lucky enough to be on vacation for this 24 in 28 so I'm taking a thicker book with me. I'm thinking the Quick by Lauren Oliver. And The Newlyweds and The Ten-Year Nap - both on my TBR Challenge Pile (Stoner is, too, by the way).

ReplyDeleteI have no intentions of reading all of these--just wanted to narrow down the entirety of my shelves to a smaller stack to choose from over the course of the weekend.

ReplyDeleteI tried to mix up some short and longer titles for my stack. My first readathon, I was in the middle of (trying to read) War and Peace, and that just started me off on the wrong foot. Live and learn, I guess. And looking forward to checking out your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe Sparrow has been on my list for SO LONG. And HOW have you not read Kavalier and Clay!?!? It's long, but superb. I read it years ago, and am re-reading now on audio. The audio is quite good, if you're looking for an audio selection. The narrator hits the accents well without feeling too overdone. But it is 26 hrs long, so it will take me a LOT of 15-min commutes to get through it all, I'm sure.

ReplyDeleteThanks, the blogs been kinda dead the last few weeks. I've been really busy tutoring, and writing and mothering. But I usually post pretty regularly and will post pretty soon with my spring TBR and my readathon stack!
I haven't read it either! That word ("superb") is very convincing!

ReplyDeleteWorth every minute of the length, in my opinion. But I know the feeling of needing to have my head in the right place for a big long book... and you've been wedding planning! Which does not leave much brainspace for chunksters.
